The SPE Bandung Institute of Technology Student Chapter (SPE ITB SC), a flagship chapter under the SPE Java Indonesia Section, has concluded its 2025/2026 stewardship with a milestone-packed year, culminating in the release of a landmark special edition magazine that celebrates the chapter's 37-year legacy.

Carrying the theme #BeyondTrueExcellence, the 2025/2026 team executed 101 work programs, engaged 2,668 participants, collaborated with 34 organizations across 7 countries, and grew chapter membership by 30% to 2,070 members, reinforcing SPE ITB SC's standing as the world's largest SPE Student Chapter by membership.

"37 Years of Excellence" — The Magazine

Available freely at speitbsc.org, the special edition magazine is a comprehensive editorial and visual record of the full stewardship. It features messages from SPE 2026 President Jennifer L. Miskimins, Faculty Advisor Prof. Ir. Asep Kurnia Permadi (the chapter's founder), and SPE Java Chairperson Ahmad Reizky Azhar, alongside detailed program highlights and competition results. The magazine is supported by four industry sponsors: Rock Flow Dynamics (Diamond), PetroChina International Jabung Ltd. (Gold), and HCML and PT Pertamina EP Cepu (Bronze).

Global Stage: PetroBowl ATCE 2025 & IPFEST 2026

This year, SPE ITB SC sent four delegates to the PetroBowl World Championship at SPE ATCE 2025 in Houston, Texas, where they achieved a competitive Top 16 finish after placing 3rd at the Asia Pacific Regional Qualifiers in Malaysia. The chapter also co-organized IPFEST 2026 (Integrated Petroleum Festival), Indonesia's largest student-led petroleum festival, which attracted over 1,200 participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Algeria, the Philippines, and beyond. A notable first: the debut of the Hackathon Competition in collaboration with SLB, SKK Migas, and PHE OSES, bridging digital technology with the energy sector.

Field Exposure & Member Development

The chapter's Big Field Trip brought 40 students to Pertamina EP Cepu and Pertamina EP Asset 4 Sukowati Field for two days of hands-on exposure to live oil field operations, including CCUS project briefings and direct interaction with field engineers. Additionally, 32 delegate teams represented ITB in national and international competitions, with SPE ITB SC winning multiple championships throughout the year.
